Obama's Hope

This is a great day to be alive. To watch Barack Obama speak at Grant Park in Chicago, was to watch history in the making. Obama has the power to get people dreaming again and to take away some of the apathy that so many have nowadays. To watch that gleam of hope in Barack's eyes, to feel that he really believes what he is saying. It makes me think anything is possible. To think that the downtrodden in our society have a voice, to think that this nation has new hope, of the type never seen before. To see people dancing in the streets of Kenya, to see the tears in Oprah's and Jesse Jackson's eyes. To see that moment, to be a witness to the true face of hope, that is a truly meaningful experience.

We have many challenges as Americans, but we now have one more reason to hope----thanks to Barack Obama.

I simply could not agree more. Obama's election to the presidency signals the dawning of a new era in America. He appears to be the very embodiment of hope. My 18-year-old daughter is even a little proud to have been a small part of this story with her first vote ever cast going to Obama.

We may even be on the path toward normalizing the ascendancy of African Americans to great political stature. Hopefully, the Governor of Illinois will select Jesse Jackson, Jr., as Obama's replacement in the Senate. He seems to have much the same sort of mettle as BHO.

Yes I, too, am espcially proud to be an American right now.

Jesse Jackson Jr....I'll have to read up about him somemore. Maybe he is a future presidential candidate too.

The image of his father with tears in his eyes during Obama's Grant Park speech will remain in my memory forever. If only Dr. King could have seen that marvelously graceful and heart felt speech last Tuesday night. He would have shed a few tears too.
