Did you catch George W. Bush on Larry King last night? He and Laura talked in the comfortable confines of the library in the Whitehouse. How comfortable is George around books? Really.
It was a nice folksy interview, but Bush didn't want to touch on the hard questions like capturing Bin Laden or the true character of Dick Cheney. This song is from one of my favorite musician/poets John Gorka

I wish I had seen the Bushes on Larry King. I keep wondering if this man will show even the slightest chink in his self-righteous armour by admitting to at least the possibility that serious mistakes were made on his watch. I'm not holding my breath though.
He has one more opportunity as president to show a little guts - a little humanity. In his farewell address to the nation (Friday, Jan 16, I believe), Bush can take a big step toward salvaging a piece of his legacy if he is willing to acknowledge a measure of deficiency during his tenure as president. History is not likely to be kind to his official legacy, but there is something to be said for salvaging one's personal legacy.
My hunch, however, is that George W. the man will go down with the ship that was his administration - defiant to the last.
